Presenting ... "Dronescape 017 (waag_drs017)" by Cousin Silas
----------
May I start off with a big thanks to both Thomas Mathie and Cousin Silas for giving me the opportunity to write the liner notes for the 17th release of the Dronescape Series.
That said, I'd like to talk about the "cancerous bubble" that began to grow as a result of this opportunity - an ego bubble, I would imagine.
It began with a series of email conversation which eventually led to my thinking I might offer Cousin Silas a few ideas on his dronescapes!
I hear you all now.
"SAY WHAT?"
My reply to you would be... yeah, do you believe it?
Do you believe that, "I", a mere mortal, was attempting to shape the musical direction of the dronescape series, of Cousin Silas's art, and worst of all, your listening pleasure!
I thought to myself, this was akin to standing in the same room as Picasso and saying, "Ya know, what do you think if that big eye on the canvas were a bit smaller?"
"And, the direction it is pointing, that's definitely all wrong!"
Fortunately for all of us, I bit my tongue, and decided to leave the big eye as it was... a BIG eye. And the direction it was pointing.........PERFECT! It couldn't be better! Thus, this means that Cousin Silas's dronescapes will be exactly that, Cousin Silas's Dronescapes.
And this is a good thing, because Dronescape 17 is pure pleasure. It moves throughout, like the ebb and flow of tides, offering up swells of angelic voices, eddies of wonder, mystery, and if you listen carefully, even a splash of discord. Finally, on rare moments, there are deep rumblings, that are perhaps just gestures, or maybe they foreshadow things to come. ;)
Either way, it's all good. Enjoy it fellow listeners!

I hope you will enjoy this dronescape as much as I do ... my thanks to Brian for writing the liner notes and providing the cover imagery ... he's been an ardent fan of our longform drones and I thought it would be interesting to get him involved. I'm glad I did.
A lossless version available on Bandcamp for 'pay what you want' which does include £0.
We are currently exploring options for a physical Cousin Silas release ... albeit progress has been hampered by my recent illness. Any funds raised by 017 will go towards this.
If you do decide to download this album for free then all we ask in return is that you tell your friends, tweet a link or post it on Facebook, write a review and spread the word.
We will post more information regarding the physical release in due course but for now ... enjoy 017.

Please Note: For some reason unbeknown to me, uploading to Archive isn't working. As such, there isn't an MP3 version of this release on there. If Archive is your thing, please don't hesitate to download for free from Bandcamp.
