Presenting ... The Elegy Suite (waag_rel062) by Tim Rowe

Elegy [el-i-jee] noun, plural elegies.
A mournful, melancholy, or plaintive poem, especially a funeral song or a lament for the dead.
Tim Rowe’s suite of short, exquisitely mournful elegies are dedicated to all who mourn, all who have lost someone or something precious to them. Just as Henryk Gorecki’s third symphony brings considerable comfort to those in pain, my hope is that in some small way this suite will bring comfort too.

An MP3 version of this album is available for free on Archive or a lossless version available here for 'pay what you want' which does include £0 ... and remember, paying supporters on Bandcamp also get unlimited mobile access to the album using the free Bandcamp listening app.

If you do decide to download this album for free then all we ask in return is that you tell your friends, tweet a link or post it on Facebook, write a review and spread the word.

Presenting ... "Tales of Space Exploration 25 - 34 (waag_rel061)” by Brother Saturn

"Tales of Space Exploration 25 - 34 (waag_rel061)” marks the next instalment of Brother Saturn's "Tales of Space Exploration" series. Drew Miller picks up where he left off in waag_rel048 … expanding his ongoing themes of travel, desolation, home and of loneliness … and further developing this series for weareallghosts.

As before, Adam Howie has expertly expressed these themes in his cover art. His piece - "Detrimentum Sui - Loss of Self" - will be available for sale as a print at devinatArt (kimded.deviantart.com/prints/) and RedBubble (redbubble.com/people/lurchkimded) … and is also included as a wallpaper in the Bandcamp release. As before, I would heartily encourage you to support Howie's work by buying a print.

An MP3 version of this album is available for free on Archive or a lossless version available on Bandcamp for 'pay what you want' which does include £0 ... and remember, paying supporters on Bandcamp also get unlimited mobile access to the album using the free Bandcamp listening app.

Presenting ... Gloria (waag_aa001_3-4) by Simon Slator

“Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.’”
Luke 2:13-14

The third candle is known either as the candle of joy, or the ‘shepherd candle’, the section above occurring as the shepherds were given the news about the birth of Christ. When you picture the scene, you tend to think of the company of angels singing like a classical choir – eclipsing the Mahler-esque in scale. However, from my own theological understanding (or lack of), glorifying God would be done with a pure heart, rather than a pure voice or a blow-you-away performance. Still, the idea of the piece was to start small and personal, then bring it up slowly towards the grand and magnificent, leaving the echo and resonance at the close.

- Simon

“Gloria (waag_aa001_3-4)” is the third of four pieces by Simon Slator that are designed for the season of Advent. The four soundscapes that make up this first “Ambient Advent” collection are intended for contemplation and meditation during this busy period.

This series is brought to you in conjunction with Slator’s new endeavour - a netlabel called “Dischi Senza Parole” - which is loosely translated as “wordless records”. All funds raised will be passed to him to help seed his work.

An MP3 version of this album is available for free on Archive or a lossless version available on Bandcamp for 'pay what you want' which does include £0.

Presenting ... Regnum Caelorum (waag_aa001_2-4) by Simon Slator

Following on from where Spero left off, the Messiah’s prophesied arrival is imminent:
As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God’s salvation.’”
– Luke 3: 4-6
“Regnum Caelorum” is Latin for “Kingdom of Heaven” – in this piece, I wanted to try and include both the preparation for its arrival (the breathy, pulsing pads), but also glimpses inside it through the simple and innocent piano line (Matt 19:14), the wide-open strings (Matt 22: 1-14) and its immersive sound (Gospel of Thomas: Saying 3).

- Simon

“Regnum Caelorum (waag_aa001_2-4)” is the second of four pieces by Simon Slator that are designed for the season of Advent.

Presenting ... Curious Warnings vol 2 (waag_rel060) by Kevin Lyons

"I suppose I shall have to translate this," said the antiquary to himself, as he finished copying the above lines from that rather rare and exceedingly diffuse book, the Sertum Steinfeldense Norbertinum."Well, it may as well be done first as last," and accordingly the following rendering was very quickly produced …
- “The Treasure of Abbott Thomas” by Dr M.R.James

Nothing beats a good ghost story at this time of the year … and nothing beats a ghost story from Dr M.R.James.

Nothing matches the dark, cold days and darker, colder nights than some dark, expressive ambient music … and nothing matches the dark, expressive accompaniment that Kevin Lyons has crafted for the ghost stories of Dr M.R.James.

Curious Warnings Vol II (waag_rel060) is the second in Lyons’ trilogy of music inspired by these ghost stories. It is another treat ... it too captures the deliciously uncomfortable nature of James' writing ... and translates the unsettling atmospheres into sound.

I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

An MP3 version of this album is available for free on Archive or a lossless version available on Bandcamp for 'pay what you want' which does include £0 (albeit paying supporters also get unlimited mobile access using the free Bandcamp listening app).

PS Amazon has Dr M. R. James' "Ghost Stories of an Antiquary" (parts 1 and 2) for the Kindle for free. Recommended reading ... especially on Christmas Eve.
